Default 4l80e questions.........HELP

Hi, I just finished my 6.0/4l80e swap and had a few questions about the transmission. I went ahead and filled it up with fluid 1 quart at a time, and each time I checked it(running at an idle afterwarmed up) it showed the tranny dipstick dry as a bone, so I poored in quart after quart and am now at 10 quarts And it still shows bone dry on the dipstick, and when I am driving it, it will slip out of third back into second. It will even go back and forth if I let off the gas and shift to 3rd, then slip back into second????? any ideas, could this transmission possibly hold this much fluid?? all I have is the factory tranny fluid cooler in the radiator. And if so, then could the low fluid be causing it to slip???? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Remington

With the B&M pan on mine it took 16 quarts. I think the pan is worth about 3, so you could be as much as 3 quarts down.

Check level with the engine running, in park, warmed up, and on level ground.

yeah, thats exactly how much I was down. Earlier right after posting, I took it up and down my driveway a few times, and then after it was warmed up, I added until I saw fluid and wouldnt you know it, it was 3 quarts. Thanks bro.

Hey man, can you post about your impressions on that tranny? Or PM about it in detail.

It seems to be the best upgrade for me too.

Thanks.

Well I am very impressed so far. It seems like an incredibly strong tranny, seeing as I have spun it to close to 5500 or so. I havent gone any further because I am still breaking in the engine, but it definitely pulls strong and feels strong. I am still having issues though with shifting because when I got the tranny it was missing one of the sensors(neutral safety switch, gear selector sensor???) and it is not shifting into overdrive and am having trouble with the tranny cooler lines that I had made up and is leaking out all my fluid. But both of those problems are just my downfalls, they are awesome transmissions and I definitely recommend them.
