Default Did I screw myself with a TCS verter???

I did a little researching to see what some of the fastest
(Mikey, Joe O., etc.) F-bodies were running converter wise. One of the more popular converters seemed to be the TCS ones. So, I called them up, talked to Steve and decided to give it a try, so they are custom building me one. It is shipping out tomorrow. But now tonight I did some more random searching on TCS and it seems they went under awhile back. So now I'm confused. I'm sure somewhere in the middle I missed some important stuff with TCS. Can anyone fill me in? I just dropped a decent chunk of change on this thing and now I'm kind of worried.

How could you order a convertor from TCS when they have been out of business for about a year now? When they were in business they made excellent convertors.

Yeah, I am a little confused about this myself? First off how did you get any contact info? Website?
When buying performance parts I recommend ALWAYS use a sponosr on this board like TCI or Yank. I did have a TCS converter in the past, but I can't vouch for what they are producing right now.

In what state was the TCS company you called? The TCS that I think Joe O and Mikey were referring to was from Maryland. Did they give you a model name on the convertor when you were talking to them? The TCS I'm familiar with (and did go under awhile ago as people mentioned) called their line Phoenix. Derek was the main guy at TCS. I have heard people mention other convertor companies called TCS.

Hmmm....I guess I messed up I'm getting a converter from another TCS that noone knows apparently I thought it was the same one as everyone else on here but I guess not. The customer service has been excellent though! I'll let everyone know how it does when it gets here. If anyone cares, they "claim" to do unlimited restalls until it's exactly what I want as long as I don't change my setup and it came with a two year warranty. They have been great to deal with so far. Here's a link to the unknown TCS: http://www.tcsproducts.com/home/default.asp

The link he provided does not appear to be the infamous TCS that was a sponsor here. It seems that there are 2 more TCS converter company's

Porbably the same company, just using a different name to protedct themselfs. I know several companies that do this, and a few even use the name of somethign to do with christian faith so they seem like a better company than they really are, they are usually the ones that write bad checks.

The TCS we know about was closed by the owner after he fired Derrick. Derrick lost his home and almost had a nervous breakdown. Derrick was as much a victim as we were. The bad think was, it was Derricks own father that fired him. I lost about $2500 in the deal. I managed to reach his father by telephone shortly after he closed TCS and after talking to him, I firmly believe he was mentally ill. Alzhiemers maybe.

Its not the same company. Its a shame though. Derek was a really great guy to deal with but at the end he was fired and the owner closed the company and screwed everone out of there money (includng me). There were alot of really fast cars with those converters in them . Big mike runs one also and the guy who used to have the SI record of 11.2 was running one also.

Derrick didn't do anything. His father just went nuts and shut down two businesses. One of which had supported the family for decades. He didn't honor orders that had already been paid for or return convertors or transmissions that had been returned for restalls or upgrading. Lot's of people lost money. Derrick suffered more than any of us as everybody blamed him since he was running TCS for his father and yet he was a victim also.

Derek is going back into business. I had great dealings with him. I feel bad about all of the crap that happend to him and that was said about him. Hopefully he gets things going again and maybe gets on a as a sponsor again..........although there would probably be all kinds of bashing going on if he did.

Good luck Derek.

I'm still running the real "TCS" convertor. I have been more than happy with it. It was ashame to see them close. I also heard Derek was trying to get back into building converters again.
