Default 4L60E Question HELP!

I went to install my torque converter and noticed that inside the input shaft housing behind the seal there was a few little square chunks of metal, it looks like there is a half of a metal ring in there but it is loose, Does this sound like that metal piece is broken or is it supposed to be like that??? Any help would be greatly appreciated. It would be nice to see an exploded view of the input shaft section of a 4L60E or a microfiche... Thanks in advance.

It sounds like you are talking about the pump gear. There should be two notches in the converter that lock into those to turn the pump. So if we are talking about the same thing its supposed to be like that.

Hey F-Body, sounds like you might have noticed a broken pump ring just before it caused your front pump to disintergrate. Your pump is a vane type and it has two rings thatkeep the vanes spread outward, one on each side of the rotor (pump gear) If you have any questions give me a call Cell #940-594-2771 Hope this helps, Matt
