a buddy of mine has a 95 z28 and he wants to put a shifter in that can go down to 1st

his shifter only allows you to go into second,my question is does a newer one let you go into 1st(98+) ive only had m6 f-bods so i have no idea

LT1 cars with the performance axle option [3.23] have an indicator plate that permits a manual shift to 1st, cars without that option have a different plate in the console that doesn't allow a manual downshift to first. I believe he needs to change the shift indicator plate as the shifters are otherwise the same. I think this is the part # [10261418] for the plate needed for the manual downshift. Verify the part # before ordering.
