Hopefully you guys can clear this up.

This is my first computer controlled trans(I'm a thirdgen guy) and something struck me as very odd the other night.

Sometimes I shift my auto manually..just a habbit. Well putting away from a light I had it in 2nd gear. The trans started in 2nd gear like it was a manual valve body

I did it two more times to make sure I wasn't going nuts. Like I said, this is my first 4L60E so it might be normal but I wouldn't know any better lol.

Can anyone clear this up?

yes I know the 2000+ F-bodys have the capability to start off in 2nd gear. Only useful thing we see is to see what the stall flashes to in 2nd
