Default 10-11 second 4l60 guys come in

im wanting to go from my m6 to a 4l60, but im going to go vaccum mod. with a full manual valve body(keeping the computer out of it) ..people are telling me that i need a billet pump, and a level 4 tranny in car that sees the track once a month and gets hit hard on the street maybe once a week. i have 440hp through an m6, and im gonna spray 100-150shot..do i need to spent this much money?

Default hey

Lets visit this a moment, It doesn't matter how many times you go to the track.....it doesn't matter how many shots you give it...what matters is 440+150=590. we find breakage with as little as 500 hp.These stock rotors are made from powder metal and can not take, nor were they designed to take the hit of nos and the added hp. It seems wise to me to add the extra h.d. pump on your build,I'm not aware of any builders warranty covering broken parts. This includes the pump rotor. I hope this helps ...Dave

If you were sticking with N/A the 4L60 would be cover your needs.. barely. With the gas. You'll spend alot of money rebuilding them.

IMO, look at a TH-400. Or if you really need overdrive, go for a 4L80. The 80 adds wieght, but it will take just about anything you can throw at it.

I run in the area that you are interested in. I believe you will be better off calling and talking to the different builders personely and deciding from there who to have build your trans. I would call FLP, rock on, century and ROSSLER. I personely chose rossler but I would call them all and make the choice on how comfortable you feel with the builder. You will get more consistant advice talking directly to any of the major builders. You may want to call some of the big name shops that dont sell transmissions, but buy them and find out who they use and recomend.

From my research using GM's figures the stock 4L80E is 85 lbs. heavier than a stock 4L60E. Now if they're built w/ slightly different parts it could be +/- 5 pounds.

I'm running a manual valve body, vacuum modulated from Chuck @ FLP. Give him a call.
High 10's on it for 2 seasons now
