What Brand Converter??
TCI gets my vote. I did hours and hours of reading via the search feature here on all three of those companies. The overwhelming consensus seemed to be that Yank was the best but too overpriced and had poor customer service in the event there was a problem. Vigilante seemed to be a good verter with the only complaint I found was some said the effiency left something to be desired. TCI was overwhelmingly endorsed by many as the best bang for the buck verter out there and with great customer service.
Many people have been very happy with all three but TCI has the best price and customer service so they get my vote and my business (TCI 3500 is sitting in my office waiting for spring).

Yank is what I bought because it overwhelmingly is reccommended here over other brands by a lot of people who seemingly have the highest credentials. It seems there are some 'Yank CONVERTER haters' here only because the price is too high and they were too cheap to spend the extra cash. Then again, there are people who have had bad experiences with Yanks. That rings true to every company I've read about here who makes the damned things ... most everyone's had their problems with all of the top 4 companies.
All-in-all, Vig, Midwest, TCI, Yank are all good and all have had their past issues/problems. Yanks are more expensive (1) for the name brand, (2) their 31 stator patented design, (3) dyno-proven/tested before the product is shipped, (4) proven quality and performance. They're number one for many reasons and that's why they cost more money.
That said, I could buy one with a factory defect today ... that can happen with the best ... regardless of what you think the 'best is. I think they're all great and I base base this ONLY on the research I did before I bought mine. To clarify one thing, I would not have been able to afford my Yank if it weren't for Chris' (AP-Engineering)
Group Purchase offer ($699.00) ... no tax ... no shipping charge. Thanks Chris!

Yank, again! Mike spent a VERY long time with me, and the convertor was actually originally bought by another person. I just sent it to him to have it restalled for my application, as I bought it second hand. The car is a single turbo, with a Rossler 4L60E freshen by Joel's on Joy, full weight, etc. He hit the stall SPOT ON. When the convertor stalls, it's exactly at the RPM where max boost comes in. Lag, NOT!!!
A Yank is going in my TH400 built by Joel. I have confidence that I will receive the same results. This will be a slightly different combination, though.

Yank was well above my price range. I absolutly love my vig 3200. I bought it used and had it restalled for free before I put it in so its new to me. I daily drive my car(in decent weather), anywhere from 10 to 70 miles a day, most of it highway. Its very efficient and i've never had any trans cooling issues, no rattling or lockup issues either. It may not be the ultimate track converter but its excelent for street/strip use. I race about once a week. My best advice is to test drive some stalled cars before making a decision.
