Default Car shaking after vertor install?

Well I just got my new SS400E in the car last week. I replaced an old VIG 2800. I am worried because when my car is at idle it shakes pretty bad, and it seems like its coming from the tranny. Now, Ive had all my other mods for some time and I know what my car feels like at all rpms, this is a new shake. The car itself runs great, no slippage, noise or anything.

The shake is kind of random in length of time as it happens and between it happening. And it is worse when the car is sitting at idle than when im driving, although I can still feel it then as well. There really is no additional noise coming from the tranny, its just a shudder and the noise from the actuall car shaking itself.

Is this natural from a bigger vertor, or just this type? It is the "extreme" version with the 6 mounting tabs, and the posi-loc clutch. Thanks.

I had a similar thing happen after changing torque converters. Turns out the driveshaft loop and torque arm were making contact. I just bent the loop a little with a pry bar to make some clearance. Smooth as silk now.

Yea there is no noise or banging, which is what it would seem that you encountered. I dont have a DS loop (yet) so it pretty much rules it out.

I havent done anythign additional to the car but installing the Vertor so there shouldnt be anything else making contact. Even if there was, I doubt it would make the car shake like this. Its not violent or anything, just much more apparent than something banging against the floorboard.

I dont know. Dave has sent me a PM already, so Im sure we will figure this out soon. You got another PM, BTW Dave.

this may seem crude, but you can add a nut and bolt on the f wheel and move it around to see if the vib. gets worse. if you have questions l'm at 818 767 4480 hope that helps jk

Which vertor and how long have you had it in? Dave said that if the vertor is properly balanced there shouldnt be any shake whatsoever, so I dont know.

He wants me to switch out the vertors (to my old one) or reinstall the current one and see if it still shakes, but I dont have that kind of time or more importantly, the cash. Specially around the holidays. I dont know what to do. Not to mention, if i have to send it back that will probably cost me as well.

I mean im kinda stuck b/w a rock and a hard place, because I cant prove that its the convertor if i dont switch it out, but to switch it out will cost me. I would prob end up paying twice if that happens. I guess its either that or deal with a shakey car. Man I cant win.

This sucks.
