Vig 3600 won't lock up on Dyno! Had my car tuned yesterday and the tuner was unable to get the converter to lockup.. I've heard that you have to use a Tech II or a manual lock up switch. Is this true or should he be able to lock it up with LS1 edit? The tuner thought that there might be somthing wrong with the lockup selinoid or even the converter. He allso said that on the unlocked dyno numbers the converter was sliping about 3-4 hundred rpm. the car dynoed 367 rwhp and 353 rwtq. |
i would probably take it somewhere else if you could to a shop that has a tech II and is a well know repetable shop with LS1's |
So should he be able to lockup the converter with LS1 edit? Or do I have to have a manual lock up switch or a Tech II? If I need to use a lock up switch than does anyone know what wire it is on a 98 Z28? |
Last time I had my car dynoed (after adding the new tranny) they couldn't lock it up with edit. Never found out exactly why, here is the response: https://ls1tech.com/forums/automatic-transmission/240474-why-would-converter-not-lock-dyno-wot.html and this one the tuner kinda replied https://ls1tech.com/forums/dynamometer-results-comparisons/238573-added-ls6-intake-stage-3-trans-car-dynoed-much-lower.html I'm still looking for an answer. |
I think I'm going to put in a manual lockup switch. Does anyone know witch wire it is on a 98 Z28? |
Anyone know the wire color on a 98 Thanks |
we used efi live on mine to lock that up.. just push a button and wham, locked up;) |
Whats EFI live? Do you know the wire coler on a 98? Is there something wrong with my car or do I just have to have a manual lockup switch? Allso at what speed do you lockup your converter? Thanks |
From what I understand the converter is ok as long as it locks up normally while driving. Mine locks up right at 37mph when I'm cruising and locks up just fine and stays that way on the highway. I still am a little concerned but why would an experienced tuner not be able to lock it up is beyond me. |
I tried to lock mine on the dyno using edit and was unsuccessful. Works perfect on the street! |
