Why would a converter not lock on the dyno at WOT?
Why would a converter not lock on the dyno at WOT? Had a stage 3 trans installed recently and retuned the car because of a ls6 intake. Anyway, the converter was removed and sent out to PI to be flushed and cut. After installing it in the new trans, the tuner said that he couldn't get it to lock at WOT on the dyno. This was with LS1 edit tuning. What could be wrong/is this normal?
Someone must know, I'd like to at least find out before I drive the car anymore. I've only put about 60 miles on it since I picked it up and don't want to take a chance until I know what's going on.
The clutch could be burnt and not fully engaging. There is one easy way to tell. There is a reason that converters come in a pretty pink and purple type colors. Take off the small round plate (less than 3/4") on the back of the bell housing. Find a way to get light inside so that you can see the back of the converter. See if it is still one solid color. If the clutch is burnt, like from locking it up, it will burn a black ring into the back of the converter.

I don't believe the converter is bad, I'm sure they would of told me. They send it to Precision Industries to be checked out. I'm sure if there was something wrong I would of been told but I'll call them Monday just to make sure.
It isn't a big deal about dyno numbers, I just want to make sure I don't end up damaging a new trans.
