I just bought an 86' camaro iroc-z28 its a 305 with tpi and it has a 700r4 tranny. And my problem is when i floor it it will move through 1st and second fine. But then when it hits to third it starts to bogg wayy down. I lost to a ford truck when i was racing because of that. i am wondering what could be wrong with the tranny is it the computer or vacuum modulator? What can i do because i know this car can move when its all tuned right. Thanks .. Rico

 

Sounds like it's not down shifting at all. When your in over drive try to put it in drive your self and see if it's still doggy. Back in the 80's GM somtimes used a cable from the thottle to the trans. You may have to adjust it. Hope this helps

 

Sounds like a problem with the drum and clutch packs. It could be a number of things; for instance, tranny overheated and melted the plastic in the tranny pump and lodged somewhere it's not suppose to be. If it were me, I'd pull it and take it apart before it really went to far. That's my opinion.
