Default TH400 question, need help picking tranny

I blew my stock tranny and want to upgrade to a th350/400. I found this one on e-bay and I really don't know much about these tranny's. Will someone please let me know if this sounds like a good, strong tranny for an LT1 car? Is it a good deal? Should I consider buying it or look elsewhere. THanks.

Sounds like a regular th400 with a shift kit and 34 element sprag.
Could be built for $300-$400 going by their list of parts and price of core.

Thanks, if I don't have a core, do you think its a fair price? I figure if I buy one ($300) plus the parts ($300) wouldn't the rebuild cost more then $400 in labor?

Could you please tell me what the sprag is/does.

Thanks

I dont know if your interested, but I have a good core for $175.00. It pulled fine when we took it out, but it should be gone through. P.M. if you are interested

I'm not sure. I'm just a regular guy who builds transmissions for friends and myself.
I can pick up a th400 core for $20-$40. It's hard for me to judge price.
Not sure if thats helpful. I guess my point is that trans sounds like nothing special but it should hold up to what they say it will hold up to.
The sprag replaces a roller clutch in the trans. It locks during the 1-2 shift, if second gear shifts hard it will break the roller type, I've had this happen in a nearly stock vehicle and was told it's very common for these to fail.
The sprag type is basically stronger.
I'm sure theres a better explanation but that the best I can do for now.
