Powerglide gear selection
Before I call a builder I want to kind of know what they hell I am talking about.
First, what do I NEED in a glide? Hardened what? The car is around 2800lbs and I hope to be around 575rwhp NA and a 200ish shot on top.
Second what kind of 1st gear? They go from 1.76 Stock to over 2. How to determine or is it hit or miss? Should I use the dyno graph to determine?
Thanks
Mike

Tell them the power level, and weight. They know the trans better than you
Seriously though, give them the intended rear gear ratio, tire size, weight and power and they should be able to tell you what you need.
FWIW, i'm running a 1.8 first gear, 3.60 rear gear, and a 28" tire. 3350 LBS, somewhere north of 1K RWHP

Just FYI I called a few builders and they all pretty much recommend a 1.89 gear.
Something else interesting I found is they can build them with a Turbo 400 input shaft so any converter from a 400 will work with the glide. Good to know info.
