Well, i'm going to assume it's an auto and if that is correct then you sir have a 4speed 4L60E the only auto offered in these cars. Enjoy!!

It's a fair question. After all so many people use inaccurate, ambiguous, or even completely irrelevant terms here to describe things.

For example:

"A4" to describe an M30 (4L60-E)
"A4" to describe an M32 (4L65-E)
"A4" to describe an MT1 (4L80-E)
"A4" to describe a 4L60 or 700R4
"A4" to describe a 200R4
"M6" to describe the M10 (T56)

and of course my favorite,
calling a Torque Converter "a stall" lol

See, it *IS* a good question.
