Default Tranny break in.....

I should have my new beefed up 4L60 E that I ordered online installed my Sat. morning. My question is, what should the break in consist of? How long should I wait to pounce on it? Anything in particular I should do to propeerly break everything in safely? BTW, there is also a new converter going in at the same time. Thanks in advance.

This is a fully rebuilt beefed up 4L60E just FYI

generally speaking you should baby it for the first 1000, then over the next 1000 you can gradually start giving it more gas. i would ask the person who built it what they recomend though.

If the transmission has a new band in it you may find that it sticks a little bit. It is normal for a new band. There is a break-in procedure to surface the band to prevent that. With the car in the air and the rear off the ground put it into first and let idle so the rear wheels turn freely. Crawl under the car an use a prybar to apply pressure to the apply piston cover on the passenger side of the transmission. When enough pressure is applied you will hear the engine lug a little bit. Apply a good amount of pressure to it for a few seconds. You may smell or see smoke, don't worry - normal. As destructive as it sounds this is normal procedure for a GM builder. If yours is not sticking you can forego the procedure.

Other than that for the 4L60 an automatic transmission generally needs no break in. I would double or even tripple check your fluid level before rhomping on it though.
