Any one running a 2800 or 3000 stall want to
give thier input? Vigilante are supposedly a
tight convertor.Looking to stay on street
tires and pick-up some power. Have access
to a stall change for shipping costs.Good convertor? Stall up? Leave it? More facts please! YES i did
a search just looking for updates? How fast
do they start to increase stall (burn-up?)

You mentioned street tires, so I'd go with the Vig 2800. It will actually stall 3,100-3,200 RPM behind an LS1. I shaved off .5 from my 1/4 ET in my '98 T/A with the Vig 2800 and full traction! I'm running the Vig 3200 now in my SS, and it's GREAT. It's actually stalling right at 3,800 RPM, and I love it. It's a GREAT street/strip converter. I was cutting high 1.6 60' times with the 3.23's and this converter, and it should pull some high 1.5/low 1.6 60' times with the 3.73's now installed. I hope to find out tomorrow. If it were me, I'd have it restalled to a Vig 3200 because you're going to want more converter before too long. The 3200 is ideal for the street/strip.

Trevor,
Do you feel like a tranny cooler is a definite need when using the Vig 3200 converter? Just asking because I ran my old '98 Z28 with its lame Yank 2800 for over 2 years with out a tranny cooler and the transmission still seemed fine. Of course I could only cut a 1.758 60' even with 3.42's and Nitto's.

Thanks,
Les

SOM WS6 - I would HIGHLY recommend a trans cooler. Heat will kill a trans quick. A $40 trans cooler is cheap insurance. It wouldn't be hard to get the trans temp up to 200+ degrees w/ out a cooler if you're doing a lot of stop-and-go traffic or racing. So to answer your question, yes, I would consider a trans cooler a must. You managed to get away with it with your Yank most likely because it was a tight converter. The Vig 3200 may be rated at 3200, but it stalls 3,700-3,800 in an LS1.
For performance vs. cost ratio, the Vig 3200 is very competitive with other converters out there. I don't think you can go wrong with it, and I don't see you regretting the purchase. I know that I don't!
