what stall speed to get?
what stall speed to get? I'm interested in a higher stall converter, but what stall speed and brand should I get? This car is a daily driver and I will at most add headers later on. I would like something that will work well on the streets, yet perform decently on the track and have lock up for overdrive. i.e. I don't want to rev to 3000 rpm just to leave a stop sign at a normal speed.

Re: what stall speed to get? Yank Superthruster 3500 would work well. Typical intown rpms:
parking lot manuevers 1200
heavy slow traffic: 1800 - 2000
normal traffic: 2200 - 2400
break away from the pack: 2700 - 2900
You'll want drag radials for best performance off the line. Reducing the stall to 3300 would tighted it up a bit.
A vig 2800 would also work.

IMHO, anything less than 3500 is too small for an LS1. I know it sounds big, but you will be sorry in the long run if you go smaller.
The rpms that Ragtop gave are exactly what I've seen with my SY3500 too.
