Q about tranny
well im getting a 95 z28 and im pretty new to camaros and stuff and i had heard that when your getting near the 12's you should watch out on the stock tranny and being as i think it runs a 13.2 or 3 then i think this is going to be an up and comming problem. all the tranny has is a shift kit i dont know who makes it but my question to you guys it what should i do?? is there something cheap that i can do right now to make the tranny hold till i get enough money to upgrade. and what is the best upgrade tranny for these cars. anyways thanks alot for your help.

I gotta agree the only thing you can do that will increase the "life" of the 4L60E is a good trans cooler.
A shift kit is nice but will increase wear and tear in the long run.
If and when you decide to upgrade I have an FLP stage 4 4L60E 4 sale with about 3,000 miles on it. I pulled it out and refreshed it. I am now running a TH400.
Check out flp2win.com for specs on the stage 4.

There are better and stronger trannys out there, TH350, TH400.
I have/read lots of talk about the 4L80E but have yet to hear/read about anyones actual experiences. Basically from what I understand the 4L80E is based off the TH400.
For the 4L60E there are two known builders to this board. Chuck at FLP and Rossler.
If you are just going to be a bolt on car for now get a tranny cooler it will sustain the life of the tranny. I ran heads and cam on a stock 4L60E with a tranny cooler for a year before it gave out. Bought the FLP 4L60E ran it 3 times have about 3000 miles on it found a deal on a built reverse manual valve body TH400 with a trans brake bought it installed it and am now happy that I am running that.
If you are going to go nitrous or anything other than bolt ons sooner rather than later your stock 4L60E will go **** up.
