Just get a SS3600 and you wont need gears *hehe* I went from 12.8x's to 12.2x's and the ONLY thing that was different was the converter. It was at the same track, both nights had close DA's and the temp was the same. As far as driving normal, I cant even tell the converter is in the car anymore. I can get around town in stop and go traffic and keep it under 2000 rpm's

although, if you get more gear you can get away with a higher stall

i say do both. they say coupleing them together is the best thing to do .. 3.73 and a 3500 will give a tight feel. or 3.73 and a 3200 like u said. i would go personally with the 3200. thats just me. i live in miami and trafic is a bitch

I had a PY3400 converter in my 2000SS when I bought it. Though I never drove the car with the stock converter I can honestly say that the 3400 is what should have come in the car. I never had to turn the motor over 2000 when accelerating away from a light to stay with or pull away from traffic so it was a nice converter for daily driving. I'm going a little more radical on my N/A phase of my car's life right now so I've switched over to a PT4000. This converter, IMO of course, is a tad looose for daily driving. It takes nearly 3000 RPM when accelerating from a light to move like it did with the smaller converter at 2000. It depends on how radical you plan on making the car to decide on the best converter. Nearly stock with a small cam, 3500ish is going to work fine. If you go really radical with a nasty cam, 4000+ is the way to go.

Mine brand new from Yank was somewhere around 800 I think and it was worth every penny. Converters are a MUST for A4's.

I got mine for $749 in an LS1.com GP almost 2 years ago. I paid $200 to have someone install it. Best mod in the book for A4 cars.

I'll be going with a Fuddle Racing stall, and probably the tranny cooler. John's given me specs on what I should get according to the setup I'm gonna have on my car. Can't wait to order it.

Stall all the way!!! It will take a day and a half to get used to it, but it is the best power mod I've made. If you are going to shoot juice, go with a 3000 stall, if staying n.a. 3500 and up will be nice. My LT1 needed Heads and gears to go 12's, this car has minor mods, no headers, and has seen three 12.4's on stiff 315 BFG DR's. Can't wait to test my new ET streets!! Definitely get a cooler, no mass air ends, and a way of uping the trans pressure a little, (I use the Hypertech at 100% with NO problems). Your car will feel like a completly different animal. Before the stall, my car was kind of boring to drive, now, I go looking for trouble!!! Gears in an auto car will only give you a tenth, maybe. Besides that, with a 3.06 first gear, a 3.73 would give you an overall, 11.41:1 ratio. Too steep, unless you have some real slicks and suspension work. Your 3.23's will be hard pressed to break vs a 3.73.
