Default Fuel economy with a stall

OK. So I've got a rear crankshaft seal leak and have to pull the tranny to fix it. I'm thinking this would be the perfect time to put in a high-stall converter (if I'm ever going to!). My car is a 1999 30th anniversary T/A convertible. I'm planning to keep it mostly stock. So far I've got a lid and a Hypertech tune - otherwise stock, with 3.23 gears.

Since I drive this car a lot, and with gas getting out of sight, I want to make sure I'm not taking a big hit on fuel economy. I'm thinking about going with about a 3K converter.

What is your experience with fuel economy when a stall is installed on these cars?

3800 stall, 2.73 gears here.

around town (like not locked up) i want to flip out the milage is soo bad. on the highway it is rediculously good though (when locked up)- definetly better than 20mph highway, but possibly worse than 10mph city! if im racing the car, well forget it...

3000 you'll be allright, but you will waste gas from wanting to floor it all of the time

Mostly in town with some highway I got 16 with my SF3000 and 3.42's; I can tell it went down a little. Locked up on the highway same as stock.

I lost 2mpg on average. I average 18mpg or so. 16 when I drive it really hard.

I have a 3500 stall converter with stock 3.23's and a large cam (MS3), my last tank (mostly city driving) I got 13 mpg. On a trip back from the track, going about 65 mph the entire way with very few stops I got about 22 mpg. I only got about 16 mpg stock. The kind of roads you cover and your driving style (right foot) have a large effect.

I have a 3800, my mpg went down a lot at first because I was "testing" it out a lot when I first got it . But once I got used to it, my mpg went down maybe 1mpg. If I leave it in D (3 for those with t/a's) it'll lock up at 25mph, and 37mph if in OD, perfectly fine for me. Rpms will be higher on average when acelerating, mine used to be around 2k when accelerating, now they sit about 2500. But since it still locks up once i get up to the speed limit, it doesn't seem to be a problem. Mine is a yank st3800, not sure how other brands will compare in terms of lockup speed, etc.

You will lose 1-2 mpg. Once the TC is locked, it acts like stock. The rpm's will flash from a stop. Problem lies with the fun factor. That is where you lose mpg
