Default Best TC to buy.

Im looking for the 3600-3800 range, Is the Midwest 3600 good? how bout the YankSS3600? which is better IYO.

Also i have 3.73s and not really sure what midwest stuff means like the str or whatever. Let me know which would be the better one, this car is also a semi daily driver as well.

Well, I have the SS3600 and I cant say enough about it. Do a search and you will find out a lot more. Nothing against midwest, they are a great company, but I think when it comes to converters you get what you pay for. I waited a bit longer and saved up for the Yank. You may also want to look into a vig 3200 (really stalls to 3600) Oh ya, with the converter being ONLY thing different I knocked .6 off my 1/4 times and thats still with stock tuning.

Right as I was about to get 1 I found a group purchase. You may want to keep an eye on the Sponsers section for that Saves you a lil bit.

I don't know about the "best," but I'm on my fourth Yank converter now and I've gotten great performance and no problems from all of them.

Regarding the Midwests, almost everyone I know that got one when they were popular had to send them back because of leaking from cracked housings.

Would the Pro Yank be to much for a daily driver/street car. Im having hard time finding YankSS3600, but i have found the YankPY3600. Let me know if this is to much for my car though. mods in sig. and i plan on getting FMS F14 cam with the TC, and later on some TEA Heads. Thanks.

Get a PT 4000 and your done. If youdont go big first you"ll be back. With that cam you will need a good verter. The Yanks cost but thier worth it.

I've got a Midwest 3400 2.0str in my car right now that i've had for about a year now. I finally decided on this one after listening to a lot of people on this forum say that it was a great verter. I'm currently thinking about switching to the Yank SS3600 as well. The only reason I'm thinking about switching is b/c i really didn't see that large of an increase in my times at the track. The MW lowered my 60' from 2.1x to a low 1.9x and I only picked up about .1 and my mph dropped about 2 in the 1/4. I was also running on street tires at Commerce. I don't think that the MW verters are very efficient. My stock verter definately pulled a lot harder from a roll. I've been reading about a lot of guys on here dropping their et's by about .5 and I only got a .1. That's why I'm thinking about switching.

Bottom line, if I had to do it over again I'd save my money and get the Yank.

i have a midwest 3k with a 2.0 str and have had no problems what so ever. Had it for over 3 years now. My 1/4 went from 13.4 to 13.0. This converter has alot more in it since i just spin the tires on launch (2.0 60 was my best so far) oh just so you know the 13.4 et was with 2.1 60's. Im looking to upgrade mine now cause i want more stall and a little lower str to reduce the shock to the tires. As for other midwest comments about leaking, funny i havent heard anything in the 3 years i had mine, i might of had my blinders on though. As for my new converter im going to give fuddle racing a go cause they got a good gp on them and have read a few posts now with good results... This is the order as it stands right now(very subjective) on who is good 1.Yank 2.VIG 3.TCI 4.Midwest/Fuddle Im sure there are more but this is the popular order. Yank was first so there will be more yank users, Vig was second and everyone else came after so they are the automatic under dogs. You really cant go wrong with any of them. When you start to require crazy stalls, str ratios, and better clutch materials than you want to look at the top 3. If you got a street car, under 500hp and go to the track once a month or so you will be fine with the last few i mentioned, though the ruling on fuddle's converters are still out

When in doubt, go bigger. TCI makes a decent, affordable converter. Can't beat the Yank SS series for feeling like a lower stall converter...until you step on it. Or you could get a Yank PT4000, arguably the ultimate ***** out converter for a naturally aspirated car. Costs an arm and a leg though.

On LS2.Com where I moderate, a LOT of Midwest converters were sold by a particular vendor and there later was a rash of complaints regarding cracked housings and leaking. Here's one thread from this board.

I agree with LS1LT1 Vig all the way . Solid product and no issues. My car went a best of 12.18@111.8mph 1.64 60ft with the Vig 3200 on Bfg drag radials and hardly no other mods other than free ones and hpp3. Wish I never sold that car, it was a freak. Good luck with your choice.

Yank SS 3600 is a little more expensive than others on the market, but the quality and performance keep you from needing to upgrade in the future. The only thing I'd change though is the stall speed. You'd be better off with the SS 4000 with the cam you have. Trust me, the difference between that and the 3600 is not very big. Very much a daily driver converter.
