Default torque converter bolts sheared!!!

Okay so i'm pulling my tranny to change out my craked flexplate and i sheared off one of the 3 torque converter bolts. i"m still trying to extract it on the bench but i need some replacements. My question is what should i replace them with, just grade 8 hex head bolts work??? what grade are the stock ones?

THANKS

The stock ones are metric. They don't go by grade 8 etc. They have a number like 9.8, the higher the stronger.
Unless they are the allen head type.
You can find replacements in the MotorMite Help section of most auto parts stores.
FWIW I've used grade two (no marking) 3/8 bolts on a th400 converter that used nuts and bolts in a one ton truck. In other words they don't have to be super strong. Grade 8 would be fine, or 9.8 metric.

Check Mcmaster, Grainger, J&L industrial supply for the bolts, any of them will have them.

They are the allen head type. they say 10.9 on them.

GM part # 1261968 are metric hex head t/c bolts used on trucks and are good replacements for the crappy allen head t/c bolts.

You might find them at a local hardware store. Thats if you want them this weekend and will replace them with hex head bolts.
Just be sure on the length, too long is almost as bad as too short and I doubt the hardware store will have the exact length, so you might need to cut them.

10.9 is a pretty strong bolt, maybe equal to a sae grade 8.
