Yank 3000 is in, and ...
After a long time of being afraid of ruining the drivability of my 30th, I finally took the plunge and decided to "Yank it". I chose the Yank 3000 as a conservative choice - out of all the comments and reviews on this converter I've read (and I did a LOT of research) the only people who regretted getting it wanted MORE stall. No SES lights, no codes. Sounded great. Y3000 is advertised on Yank's site as the "best combination of streetability and gains". The 2600-2800 range (with some exceptions) gets reviews on not being enough converter for the time and effort, so Y3000 it is.
I ordered it from Fast Toys (thanks Philip) and got it in about a month. I had it put in on Friday. I installed a B&M 16k cooler yesterday - install was a breeze, (and also put in the new PCV valve that's supposed to stop the oil consumption, will report on that later).
Review :
Just driving it out of the tranny shop's driveway all my fears were put to rest. The new converter is PERFECT. No SES lights so far. Idle was still relearning a bit since they had the battery disconnected all day.
In gear with my foot off the brake the car inches forward/backward at idle, with reverse sometimes taking a little goose of the throttle to get it moving on an incline. Better than I had hoped.
It takes about 1200 RPM to move the car forward (perfect) and about 2k to keep a good "leaving the traffic light" takeoff speed. Perfect.
Then I got on it.

Holds just about 4k at 1-2 and 2-3 shifts. Will easily roast the Nittos from a stop up to a 30mph roll. Awesome SOTP difference. I couldn't be happier. By the time I got home from the tranny shop I was used to the new feel of the car.
I couldn't be more stoked. Best choice I have made so far with mods for the car.
Just wanted to report in and let you all know if you have been waiting to get Yanked, just do it.

Where did you have the converter installed. I'm looking for a good place to have my Y3000 installed as well. I spent alot of time trying to pick out my converter as well. Should have it any day now.
Thanks,

They are nice folks and they do top notch work. The install for my converter along with a tranny service (install converter, drop pan, new filter, flush and fill)was $290.
Tell them I sent you !
