Losing HP in my A4.?
Here is a question for you guys who know what your talking about..unlike me. I have been told I am losing about 20-30 HP with my A4 over an M6 is this true???

Yes, you will lose more hp through an A4 over the M6. The M6 is a direct connection while the A4 is a fluid connection. Think of two floor fans. As one spins, it uses the fluid to spin the other. There is ~5% power loss between the two transmissions.
If you start with 340HP:
M6 will be ~300rwhp(12% Loss)
A4 will be ~282rwhp(17% Loss)
These are just estimates.

Yes, it does "eat" up more horsepower, due to torque converter slippage, and pumping losses of the transmission. The "plus" to this is the torque converter, which multiplies torque (this does not happen with the manual transmission), which allows the tranmission to "see" more rpm's in the quarter mile, and thus more torque/horsepower going to the rear wheels. This acounts for very similar times & trap speeds in the quarter mile.

get a nice converter and you can lock it up in 3rd at the track and end up with a great middle ground...get the torque multiplication in the 1/8 mile and acts like a manual once locked up!!!

Another nod for a torque converter. You will see a huge difference compared to stock depending on what size stall you choose. When I got WOT and the tranny shifts, the RPMs don't drop below 4800. Pulls very nicely.
