Default who has the #7 3600 vig converter

really just wanted to know if you all lock your converter down the track or not and if u are what mph or rpm are u doing such

I lock mine up as soon as it shifts into 3rd. My rpm's never drop below 5300 on the 2-3 shift.

i havent locked mine, but i think some guys on here do... supposedly its good for a little pickup in mph <img src="gr_grin.gif" border="0"> but ive seen a few guys have tranny probs after doing this over time... prob just a freak thing though.. all i can say is try and see if it works

That would kill your rpms and eliminate any torque multiplication if you do lock-up as soon as you shift. Assuming a 6400 shift point:
6400 * 1/1.62 ~ 4000 rpm; call it 4200 since you are still accelerating through the shift.

I wouldn't lock it up untill you hit 5500 - 5800 rpm. At that point your lock-up rpms will stay in the low 5000 range.

Very good info Ragtop <img src="graemlins/gr_cheers.gif" border="0" alt="[cheers]" /> I have talked to PI on several occasions and was told to lock it up on the 2-3 shift. But, I agree with what you have said. I only gained 1.3 mph locking it up this way. Next time I'll wait to 56-5800 and hit the switch. Thanks!
