Default Th350 Help!

Im about to be putting a TH350 in my 2002 SS..but i have a couple questions..
I bought it used for a really good deal..my questions are..Is everybody running manual valve bodys? cause this is a standard TH350 with a shift kit..and the other question is .. i have a convertor for this Transmission..but people are telling me that it has to be LSx Specific..i dont understand why cause its got both bolt patterns on it..will it work?

reverse manual valve bodies are usually cause you have a trans brake.
The "nose" on the regular th350 converter is too short. LSx specific converters have the "nose" about twice as long. you can use it if you use a special spacer between the converter and flywheel.
