good god, do you realize how many rpms that is at 60 mph? have you thought tha out? and why a th400 with such a tiny stock tire? no 245/50 is gonna hold up to any decent sized convertor in a TH400.

unless you turn a LOT of rpm, you will run out of gearing.

I ran a 4500 stall in my TH400 with reverse manual valve body and trans-brake. I had 4.10 gears and 26x11.5 MT ET streets. It was ok on the street, but blew the tires off easy. I never took it to the track because I'm building a tube chassis car out of it. My car also dynoed 720 h.p. though.

I have a TH400 and Yank pt4000 converter. I used to have 4.30's and it would break the tires loose right now. It was ruthless on the highway though. I opted to change to 3.50's. The car is obviously less touquey now but is livable on the highway.

Default gears

there are custom planet sets to give you the throttle response you lost when you moved your rear gear up. the two ratios are 11% deeper and 21% deeper.
