Default Need some non-LS1 help on a 4L60 / TH400 Conversion

I have a TH400 that I'd like to replace the 4L60E with in my '97 Silverado. This is my tow vehicle and the 4L60 just doesn't cut the mustard and even with a cooler I'm worried it is gonna leave me stranded. Anyone have some info I could use to have everything needed for the conversion? Bascially all I have at the moment is the transmission it self. Any info would be much appreciated.

Thanks

The big prob. here is the electronics. You can do the physical install with little fabrication (drive shaft length, mounting,ETC.) but ur ECM will be "looking" for an electronically controlled trans and cause many drivability probs. to say the least. IMO have that 4L60E built to HD specs and if done right will survive all ur towing needs. If ur hell bent on a "400" type trans you could go the 4L80E route and will take lots of abuse and retain all the factory electronics with a little wiring and program changes. But will be atleast twice as much as a built 4L60E to do that type of conversion.

i put one in my 99 z and havent tuned it yet and it s fine. its probably shooting some codes but my ses light has been on for months. wouldnt know. but it runs fine with the exception of a slightly choppy idle. im not sure how different the parts would be for a silverado as to a camaro. but finding the parts wasnt to hard, just ask alot of questions before spending thousands on parts that might not work with each other.
