Will a 4l60 converter work in a 700-r4 trans?

I'm pretty sure it will work, just as long as the converter is not for the electronic version (4l60e). Maybe someone else could chime in and verify this...

to the best of my knowledge the bellhousing on a ls1 4l60e is a little larger than the bellhousing on a previous style 4l60e or 700r4. also i think the input shafts are a little different

The 700R4 was renamed to 4L60. So yes it might work. They had 27 spline input shafts up to '84 1/2, after that they used 30 spline.
In or around '93-'94 the 4L60E came out.
You can't use just any 4L60 converter in a PWM 4L60E even though it will fit. It will work if you convert the trans to non PWM.
LS1's use a different input shaft so you can't put an LS1 4L60E converter in a non LS1 trans.
