98 ta a4...... bone stock

3.42 gear with a yank 3200 on some 26 10.5 15 et streets, and perhaps a nx 150 shot????

any suggestions will be appreciated....

The gear choice IMO is good, but converters are expensive... and if you're going to throw around $700 on a converter... do it right the first time. Often people buy a lower stall thinking a 3500 will be too much and end up dissatisfied and wanting more stall.

Someone gave me some good advice when I was converter shopping...

"Get the next higher stall than you think you can handle" -- that was very good advice.

I got an ST3500 the first time around and after a little adjusting to the different drivability and I couldn't be happier!

 

Agree with monster; get the ST 3500. It is a good nitrous converter and will give you better NA times too.

What gears do you have now? I would not switch from 3.23s to 3.42s - its not really worth the investment. From 2.73s, it is fine.

 

isn't there a number or a code that denotes gear ratio?

 

From memory I believe GU2 = 2.73, GU5 = 3.23
