ARP Flywheel Bolts
We are getting close to putting the new TH400 in the car and I think we have run into a little snag.
I ordered a set of ARP Flywheel Bolts, part number 330-2802. They show a size of 11mm X 1.5 X .800 length. They are listed specifically for LS1.
When mocking up the flywheell to the crank with the bolts hand tight, there is still about a 1/4" of bolt left to thread in. After putting a ratchet on there, it seems to need a lot more pressure to turn than normal. For all we know this is normal, but we don't want to start cranking down on them if they are the wrong size and strip out the crank. The flywheel is a Huges SFI approved.
If anyone has any experience using these bolts please post up any information.
Thanks in advance,
Ross

I think they are for the M6 flywheel. I had a st in mine andthey were fine. I am in the process of converting to a th350 and do not believe these will work. The bolt is too long and has a shoulder. The auto flexplate is a lot thinner.

I was able to use those with my tci flywheel, but steve is correct. These were intended for the m6 and will not work on the stock a4 flexplate. I am not familar with the hughs flexplate, but it sounds like it is too thin and the bolts are bottoming out. Swap to the stock bolts and you should be ok.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I guess the description of these bolts is misleading.
330-2802 ARP LS1/LS6 Flywheel Bolt Kit, 11mm
134-2201 ARP LS1/LS6 Pressure Plate Bolt Kit
I have been under the impression that "Pressure Plate" describes a manual flywheel and just plain "flywheel" or flexplate describes an automatic.
The car is originally an M6, but when the transmission sold, the bolts went with it.
Does anyone know what bolts are supposed to be used? 11mm X ? X ?
Or perhaps a correct ARP part number?
Thanks Again

Thanks very much for the offer strokedls1. I think we are going to go with some Grade 8 bolts. Having 700lbs of torque off a transbreak and stock bolts makes me a little nervous. LOL
