Default Drivetrain warranty

I think my sun shell is dead (2002 LS1 Camaro - A4) because I lost reverse and the car would not shift out of 1st w/out lifting off the gas. I called the dealer because the car has 12k miles and the tech told me there is no warranty (any) after the 3yr/36000. Is that true? I thought all cars had a drivetrain warranty that was like 5/60, or something like that.

Then I proceeded to tell him that it is a common problem and he basically told me he wasn't aware of it.

They would have to do a diagnostic for 2-300 dollars, then decide what needs fixing.

Does anyone have any useful info or contacts for this problem.

Thanks, Mike Jones

It depends on when the car was originally sold new! I got my car in Dec of '01 technically my warranty would have expired in Dec of '04!
