Default Somebody help....

I have 5 grand to spend on my car. List of parts I'm getting so far is :

nitrous (100 shot)
gears (3.73s)
nitto 555rs
T.B. (one of shaners probably)
sub frames
3500 stall
plugs
plug wires
And some sort of cam (hotcam perhaps...?)
Some things may change, but probably not. My questions is....

My tranny is slippin on me, so I was wondering if I just get it rebuilt, would it hold up to the mods I will have, combined with the little stuff I already have? (See sig) If not, what are my options as I would REALLY like to kep my O.D.
Thanks for any and all suggestions.

if it's already slipping, it is just going to get worse. Call Rock On and see what they can offer for your mods. His level 4 tranny oughta fit the bill for you. His number is at the end of the video in my signature

I know it's going to get worse, that's why I asked if I get it rebuilt, as in back to stock specifications, will it hold up? I WAS just going to go with the TH350 but I REALLY want O.D. But I have heard a couple prices for getting it built and that's close to 2 grand which is too expensive for me at the moment. By the way, I'm on dial-up and don't feel like waiting an hour to get a number.

IMO the nutshell answer is "No." Rebuilding the stock 4l60e tranny back to stock specifications would not be a good idea with all the mods you are planning.

You need to get a transmission that's appropriate for the power levels you intend on making.

Here's a link to a post where I did research on the different 4l60e transmission options out there.

On a side note, I think you are going to be hard pressed getting all the mods you want for 5k, even if you are installing them all yourself.

Normally when doing a cam, you need the install kit, and it's good to pair it with a set of heads. Since you are ripping out the cam, might as well buy an under drive pulley, etc. While the engin is in pieces, you check the water pump, timing chain, oil pump, etc.

Cool, thanks man. I appriciate the help. As far as the five grand not being enough for the parts, my brother in law and I made that list last night, pricd everything on the net and even over priced some of the parts to make sure I was going to have enough. Aside from that, what do you suggest I do? My goal is to cut a 7.5 in the 1/8 since that is the closest track to me. Any suggestions? I know but hey, this got a little off topic.
