Has anyone used a 4L80E?
I saw that that 1300hp C4 vette used one with good results. So why is no one here using them? Seems that we use the 4L60E until we've got too much power, then we swap to a TH400. I think the 4L80E would be a great choice for the guys who want BIG power (500+rwhp) with lockup and OD. I'm sure the extra weight (I hear the 4L80E is big) would be well worth it for those that daily drive their machines.
So what's the issue? Seems there aren't really ANYONE using this trans, and there doesn't seem to be a lot known about it. Is it just too big to fit? Nothing some trans tunnel banging could fix, no? I'm sure once you had a car that fast, a lil massaging would be nothing
I'm sure any length issues could be resolved with a custom crossmember and driveshaft.
Anyone have any good info or reasoning? I certainly don't need one (yet), but someday I might y'know ,hit the lottery and have a nice FI 422 under the hood

I spoke with Hughes Performance about the 4L80E and it seems like a monster. I am considering it for my car and may order one this week, I'm having a 427 built and I don't think the 4L60E is gonna last long. But I don't want it if it doesn't act like the stock 4L60E. Hughes says it does but I don't see how, it's still a TH-400. Ed Wright does the programming and Hughes has sold a few already to people with performance cars. I'd like to talk to someone who has one before I order it.
