Default Trans fluid suggestions

Well guys, I feel like i've done plenty of reading on what trans fluid to use, but I still can't seem to make up my mind Here is what i'll be installing: Yank SS3800, 24,000 b&m cooler and a modded Pro built automatics trans go shift kit. Now I just talked with Yank and they said it really doesn't matter what goes into their converter, but he said they use type F in their trannys. I'm still waiting to hear back from Pro built to see what he suggests because i've been told if you are using a shift kit type F is the way to go, but I want to hear what he has to say. Now it's onto the Dexrons. I knew there was always III, now from reading on here I now know there now a VI, but after calling around to see who has the new VI in stock I found out there is also IV and V out on the market to really toss me through a loop So if you have any personal experiance or suggestions please post them. BTW, I know to stay away from b&m trick shift per jimmyblue Thanks guys!

Agreed, Dexron III. Don't go to any higher, GM service department explained to me that they are for the newer something or other type of transmissions & are not designed for our tansmissions. I like Amsoil universal transmission fluid or Red line D4. In addition to the standard transmission filter, have found that an in-line magnetic transmission filter removes a lot of the clutch dust that otherwise would gather in the pan.

used castrol dexronIII in mine, and mixed in a couple quarts of B&M trick shift to help prevent foaming, and have had great luck with the combo, tranny temps stay real low

Thanks for the feedback guys!! After some calling around to local parts stores I found that there really isn't much of a slection out there for trans filters, all the stores only carried 1 brand and a few of them had a ATP brand so that's what I ended up buying. For the tranny fluid Pro built suggested Mobile 1 or AAMCO Dexron III. I had trouble finding Mobile 1 and had never heard or even seen AAMCO but I found some at Auto Zone so I bought that. Hopefully I'll be posting my impressions of my SS3800 and shift kit by early next week!!

I just bought some Valvoline Dexron III and noticed it was Max-Life. My car only has 25K on it. Should I use it or take it back??

I like the Redline Hi-Temp ATF. It is the equivalent to a Type F. My tranny dropped 25 degrees after changing to the Redline. It is in my built 4L80E.

I have been using Valvoline Max-Life Transmission Fluid with no issues. One of those remote filters might be a good idea as well.

I've got some GM Dex VI sitting here, and it VERY CLEARLY states on the GM packaging that it is preferred for all Dex III applications.

That GM service department is full of ****.

Personally I would stick with Dex III or Dex VI. Search around there are complications and good explanations about why to stay away from trickshift, synthetics, etc.

I'm glad to hear that! I ordered the Redline Hi-Temp ATF and just got it in today. I was hoping it was worth the extra cash I spent.

Tranny Builders WILL tell you to stay AWAY from Synthetic fluids
due to the lack of heat displacement, and that the Synthetics do
not have the recommended Detergents to effectively protect your tranny.
I use the Max Life Dextron III with 2 bottles of Royal Purple.
Works Great and NO PROBLEMS!

The type of fluid I recommend for the 700R4/4L60E (non-synthetic) is Mobil or Aamco Dexron III. For Synthetics, Amsoil is the best, and then Redline. I have never recommended Mobil One, not that it is bad, i am have not seen good results so far.
