So what's my problem? I ran a 3500 stall with LT/ORY, no internal mods for about 6 months with no tune or shift kit. Installed a cam, sent the PCM out for tuning, and the same day I put the PCM back in, fried 2nd gear. Got 23,000 on the clock. Some aren't as lucky as others.

Maybe it didn't like your tune, maybe it over heated. I would say its a good idea to get a tune right away with a converter and I wouldn't trust a tune by mail. Dyno tune is the way to go so they can see exactly how your car is reacting to the modifications. Also did you have a tranny cooler or a trans temp gage? On a rare event my tranny will start to heat up. I never let it run over 180. I have the largest cooler ls1speed sells so it usually stays around 160. Could be a lot of things incuding bad luck. I'm not saying its 100% that your tranny or rear end will hold up, I'm just saying it can and the more things you do to prevent it from breaking the better chances you have. I think the #1 thing to avoid is wide open throttle down shifts for the tranny. For the rear end the best you can do is a girdle and susspension mods to prevent wheel hop. At least those are some of the things that have worked for me so far. I know its just a matter of time before they go but I'd rather it happen later than sooner.

Just noticed you have a cooler, guess it could be the bad luck thing.

Every single time, without fail, something goes wrong after a mod. E V E R Y time. It's just **** flavored icing on the cake I guess. I have the worst luck in the world working on my own car. Now if it's somebody else's car...

I suppose it could have been the tune. I had torque management completely removed. It's possible, especially the way I was getting on it the first day, that I toasted the tranny because of that.

Yeah, I'm very easy on it on the street but I usually do one wot blast each time I take it for a drive, which is about three times a week. Otherwise I never even go 50% throttle.

"Congrats on the 11 man. I should be seeing 11's soon as well."

Thanks and good luck.
