Default HELP Won't shift 2-3 at WOT

I have a problem with my car not shifting from 2-3 at WOT in drive it hits the rev limiter almost everytime. The car shifts fine in overdrive at WOT. It also shifts fine while driving normal. Im planning on adding a 3500TCI and a 150 Dry kit soon so i need the car to shift correctly. Is this a programming problem or mechanical?

I would definatley think about a rebuild before a stall and spray especially with that many miles on the tranny.

Same thing was happening to my car....turns out my fans werent working and the car was running alittle hot....once i fixed the fans and the temp dropped the car started to shift. Also have you changed your shift points because of the new gears? try lowering your shift poitns some.

I have not tried changing shift points but its worth a try. The only thing is that it was not shifting when it was totally stock without the gears. Can somewhere like a transmission shop program the car to shift at whatever RPM you want?

Before you rebuild your transmission there's a few things you need to know. one, hyperstuff is junk, reflash it to stock. 98's are extremly picky with high speed stalls. Shift points need to be set as low as 5500rpm just to make them shift by 6000+ rpm. I've tuned countless 98's that have suffered from this problem. Find somebody in your area with hp tuners that can work on your 2-3 shift settings before you determine the trans is shot.

The vast majority of times it is (1) not enough pressure, (2) not enough volume of oil to the 3-4 clutches, (3) not enough 3-4 clutches, 6 stock, 8 recommended, (4) too much 3-4 clutch clearance, etc. You can see that there is a lot to this? If I can be of help, let me know?

This is not uncommon after a gear swap. Many people experience this quirk after a gear swap. If it shifts fine with the selector in OD, but not in D, then race with the car in OD. I've known plenty of people who experienced this and their tranny's did not break.

Mine shifts short on the 1-2 shift after the gears. It only goes to 5700 or instead of the usuall 6100.

I had the same problem for a while. I thought it had something to do with the tunnig so I spent alot of time tring to fix it with HP Tuners. Somtimes while logging a run at the track I would notice the speed on the graph drop to zero for just a second. I thought this might be the VSS malfunctioning so I decided to replace it. After that my problem was gone and I could accuratly adjust my shift points again.
