Its really pretty simple. While you will lose some peak hp due to slippage, the converter keeps the motor in the curve alot better than a stock converter which would drop alot of rpms on the shifts and not let the motor jump up the r's on launch and initial accel. You will get much quicker 60fts since you can launch at higher rpms. So basically it lets you use the most of the motors power during a run instead of wasting time getting into the power band. That ='s more used power during the run which ='s less et and more mph.The dropped 60ft is alot of the advantage in lower et and added mph. Being able to launch at higher rpm's is key.The added benefit of not losing as many rpm's on the shifts helps alot also.

2 words: Torque multiplication <img src="gr_images/icons/cool.gif" border="0">

The fluid coupling acts like an extra gearing increasing the torque in the low and midrange rpms. This more than offsets the loss in peak HP which occurs past the point of torque multiplication.
