Default violent bang

I have a stg 2 dr evil 4l60e transmission with a 3500 tci ssf converter. A bad spot in the transmission lines caused the case to burn up. Everything else looked fine. I replaced the case and used the same converter (flushed it as good as i could). Now maybe 1000 miles later (if that) the transmission sometimes on the 1-2 shift it kicks out of gear and bangs violently into 2nd gear while accelerating at part throttle. It has banged out of 1st gear before. I backed up, put it in first, barely gave it gas and it banged violently. The fluid level is perfect, it doesnt get any hotter than 175, and i just cleaned up the valve body. What could cause this?

How did you determine the case burned up? If the case got that hot to be damaged, everything inside was OK? What do you mean it "kicks out of gear"? Does it just suddenly go into Nuetral?

Started to grind and that lead to reverse going out. Took transmission out and the case was fried.

Everything else in the transmission was fine.

It kicks out of gear like going into neutral and then does like a "neutral drop" back into gear.

TC may have been band and is now spilling the fluid back into the tranny causing ithe tranny to go now. You should have had your TC cut open and inspected before you put it back in with the new trans.

Anyway...how does the trans fluid look/smell??

I know exactly what youre talking about my friends got a 98 conversion van with the 4l60e and 75k on it, it would be fine but after 20/25 miles of driving it would BANG really hard into 2nd gear. We installed a big trans cooler in it to maybe try and help something, it actually did it went a good amount longer until it banged into 2nd but there is definitly a problem there. best of luck to you.
