Default Converter for a lighter car (~2500lbs)

does weight really make much of a difference when picking a converter? i would think heavier car=more stall rpm. something in the 3200 range seems right for what i want to do, but being that the car is 1000lbs lighter than an f-body, i wasn't sure how that would affect it. also it will have 4.10's in it, no other choice of gears at the moment, but i'd like to go to 3.73's eventually to help with gas mileage. no hurry, though.

i'm trying to decide on whether to go with an auto, or manual in an '85 rx7.
