stupid converter question Is there a HP limit for a stock converter?
I just wondering if a stock torque converter could handle around 500 horsepower on a regular basis and closer to 600 from time to time.

Sorry, I should have posted that I already have a built 4L65E. If it will out last that tranny, I'll be happy 
So are you saying as far as durability the stock converter isn't a problem?

Well I'll be replacing the 350 with a 427 shortly, I might not get 500 rwhp since I'll be going with a smaller cam than most. Also I will be keeping my 100 shot which would put me in the high 500's HP range.
I mainly started this thread to make sure the stock TC wouldn't be destroyed with that kind of HP and take a very expensive tranny with it.
Plus I'd just like to see how far/fast I can go with the stock TC.
I already have a built transmission and 3:42s with a yank SS3600 but it is too loose for my taste. I had a yank 3000 with the 3:15 gears before this one and it was better, didn't take quite as much gas to get moving. I know I'll probably switch it out down the road in the constant persuit of faster ETs but a 2600 will be as high as I go.
