A4 peeps - maf and transmission concerns I have been hearing all this stuff about ported mafs possibly causing issues with the A4 transmissions and would like to know who all has dumped their ported maf for some other type. I just swapped my ported ends for a stock descreened maf and the car seems too shift a lot firmer than before. I don't know if I'm just imagining it or what. Another concern is that I gained a few HP and got my air/fuel ratio just about right with the ported maf and I'm hoping by going back to the stock maf I didn't lose too much HP/TQ. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Re: A4 peeps - maf and transmission concerns A ported MAF is a bad idea for tranny life but a good iead for making more power on a '98 LS1. If you feel you're losing any power, you can always get more timing and a leaner a/f ratio with the "power tuning" on a Hypertech Power Programmer...or with LS1 Edit.
