Default Daily Driven 3000 Stall

I am thinkin about ordering a stall converter for my 00 Z28 with 3.73s, probably a 3000 stall from TCI along with their tranny rebuild kit. What does everyone think of the TCI?

I would go with Yank or Fuddle, and probably at least 3600.
But this is coming from a guy with a Yank 4000. Never dealt with a TCI.

I have a daily-driver C5, with 3.15s, with a H/C package, longtubes, etc. I did a lot of research and talked to a lot of people and ended up buying a Yank SS3200. The SS series are a tighter than normal converter, that appear to be really designed for the street. I was originally thinking about going with a 2400 Pro Torque, after driving a car with one, but changed my mind. If I were you, I'd give Yank a call, do come Forum searches on the SS series, see if you can score a ride with a car with one of the SS series and then decide what you want. They now have a selection of several stalls in the SS series. Yank is pricey, but supposed to be worth it. Mine will be installed in the spring when the car comes out of hibernation in the frozen northland. Good luck to you on whatever you decide!

talk to bain about his tci's. he loved them. and i drove with both the 3800 and the 4400. both of which i loved too. the 3800 was great. tuned out there was very little mushyness....yeah i made it up. and the 4400...well i know he liked it and so did i. as the matter of fact he went bigger and i have his old 4400.

id go with at least a tci 3500.

I have it and I love it as a DD verter. It will feel nice and tight with those 3.73's.

tci 3000 will be almost like drivng a car with the stock converter, until you step on it. I daily drove a tci3500 for about a year and had no problems whatsoever with it.

thanks for the insight, i wish the weather was nice up here so I could find someone to get ride in a stalled car. I think the TCI 3000 will be a nice setup for my DD.

I've got a fuddle stall and it's great for a daily driver. 3000 stall w/a 2.0 str.
It's a kick in the *** to drive.

Go at least 3600 with an LS1. I'd even go 3800.

An efficient converter will be quite normal driving around town. I got used to my Pro Torque after a few days, and I will never EVER go back to a stock converter. I didn't lose any MPG with my 3200 (LT1).

The TCI SSF 3500 is a good DD converter, I moved up to a Yank SS4000, but it's pretty loose for DD for me and is flashing to high with nitrous.

I've been looking into Fuddle, friends have used this coverter and are having great luck with them.

I know I can get my Yank restalled, but can't wait for the down time sending the converter back and forth.

So, give Fuddle a shot

Another vote for a yank here.
I had a yank 3600E in my camaro but it was too small for me. (even for daily driving)

I have a B&M 3000 as a Daily Driver.....lost really no gas mileage....drives great...locks up great... I know alot of people havent tried them...
And as far as going with a bigger stall, everyone told me the same thing, but where I live it's a VERY hilly area...and my tranny temp goes up alot just on my road from the main street to my house...so all I want is a 3000...

I'll take a look at yank and fuddle but I still think the money will be spent on the TCI, I might look at getting a tranny cooler.

I like my tci 3k for a once a week driver. It is enough for me. Try to find someone with a bigger stall just so you will know for yourself.

tci is an outstanding company and everything they have is top notch. my trannies see far more stress than a drag car and everthing has held up wonderfully. besides my valvebody and shifter, everything from the flexplate to the cooler is tci. tho i have no experience with DRIVING a car like yours, i would suggest more around 3500 for the stall. if not tci then i would suggest coan.

go with atleast a 3600. I have a 3600 vig and I dont have any problems driving around on it. If I did it over again I would go with a 4000 stall.

I have my idle upped 100rpm, and it pulls ... it pulled a little even at the stock 550 rpm.
