Charging probs with ST3500...

Charging probs with ST3500... Every so often it seems as if the car's power surges. By power I mean the battery level dips and headlights dim. When I start it up cold, I put it into drive right away and gave it gas and it died out! Is there a solution to this?

Oh yes, also had BM cooler, Transgo, and poly trans mount installed at same time (prob unrelated)

Is the idle surging too, or just the volt meter? My idle used to surge a little after my ‘verter went in (volt meter and oil pressure would surge too). Now that it’s been raised to 850 it doesn’t do that anymore...

Re: Charging probs with ST3500... I had to up my idle just slightly. You can do this one of two ways without programming. Either drill the hole in your throttle blade out a bit to allow more air in OR the way I did it was to find a allen wrench of the correct size and turn the idle set screw on the throttle body so that it opened up the TB blade just a bit more. Mine idles around 600-650 now and I almost never have the problem you are talking about.

Re: Charging probs with ST3500... Never had that in my ST3500. Give the PCM about 100 miles + to relearn the new converter. Mine surged a lil when it was first put in, but after a few days it was good to go and have had zero problems since.
