An A4 uses a flexplate. It is completely different than an M6 flywheel. A flexplate is just a means of hooking the transmission to the engine. Most if not all GM flexplates incorporate the ring gear for the starter. I think old Mopar ones, and some others..(don't really know) have the ring gear on the torque converter.
