Default Removing Tranny w/std jack

I don't have a transmission jack and they are pretty expensive around here..

Guys that have removed the tranny with a standard jack, how do you pull the tranny of the block with out falling from the front?

Any tips?

I have done mine a lot on the floor. Let the motor rest on a jack and let the tail end of the tranny down with another. You will need long extensions to Get the bellhouseing bolts. It aint that hard at all. I use 2 floor jacks and a block of wood. But i am too cheep to buy a tranny jack.

standard jack, and a buddy to help hold it steady on the jack. another jack does come in handy to jack the front of the motor (push the tranny down) so you can more easily get to the top bellhousing bolts

having a block of wood helps when using the floor jack

very nice price.. I took my old pan, an old flywheel, and an old thingy that sits on the jack that thouches the car??? whats it called... anyway. I welded the flywheel to that and they bolted the old pan to that lol... worked pretty good, I will not buy one of those. I have taken the trannyout 3 times so far
