Default 4000 stall to big with these mods?

I am hoping that Ill be restalling my vig. 3200 and want to either do 3800 or 4000. I am planning on doing a cam within the next 2-3 months and I want a decent sized cam possibly 230+ dur. .590-.615 lift but i am only running 3.23 and cant run any higher of a gear because of my a3 so figured do the higher stall.

What would the 4000 be like as far as shift extensions. would I have nothing left of a powerband with the current stock cam? (in case i end up sticking with the stock cam)

I dont mind the loose feeling of the converter so thats not really an issue. I will also be running stock heads with whatever cam I have for the meantime, FYI. Please let me know of any downfalls I will face. Will a stall this size ruin a tranny? Ive heard plenty of locals say their 3000+ stall killed their tranny. Im having a hard time believing that.

go 4K. i have a 4000 in a stock motor T/A and love it. if you actually ever dyno your car stock, you will see that your peak trq is about 4200, so a 4000 puts it right where it needs to be.
I had a 3500 on a 100% car and wanted more, when the LT's went on, do did the 4000 stall.

and i think it 100% daily driveable too, i have mine tuned, and it locks up at 37mph everytime.
it takes less than 2000 to get her moving too.

i have a fuddle racing 4000, and i shift at 6300 my shift ext. is 52-5300. call john from fuddle and tell him what your looking for. he will get you a converter for YOU. i choose the 4000 because of the pwr band of the stock 98-00 cam, and i can grow into a cam with a 230's duration with the 4K stall.

John is best in business customer service, and best converters too.
check out their web site, it will telll you everything about thier co.

Yeah when it flashes, but the shift extension is going to be higher than 4000...wouldn't that skip past your peak TQ?

my converter will flash to 4200 on the dot from a 2500rpm brake stall at the track per my HPT logs.
1.59 60' stock motor w/ LT's
stock suspension and still have the frt bar

as for the shift ext, its 5300, which then the hp curve is pretty flat up to about 6100 where it falls slightly

i will be the first to tell you, i HATE dyno's... but a must for tuning and getting the right combo that works for YOU, not someone else....

first get atleast one pull on a dyno and look at the graph, go from there.... remember, my peak trq is 4200 w/ LT's and ORY
stock manifolds will be slightly lower in the rpm band. but when i did LT's everything fell into PERFECT place...

and a 4000 stall can take you up to a lower 230's duration cam
