Default problem with second gear!! have you had this problem?

last night after a disapointing super bowl i got in my car and drove off. but my tranny did not want to shift into second gear. i let off the throttle and it went straight into third. and today it has been doing the same thing i added about a quart of tranny fluid, and it is still doing the 1st to 3rd thing. it is going into all the gears but 2nd. need help.

Do you have a SES light on? It could be a shift solenoid problem, I would scan the PCM for codes. If you have access to a scanner, some of them will give you trans. data.

Does it have 4th? If no 2nd or 4th might be a problem with the band. If it doesnt have reverse, 2nd and 4th the sunshell could be broke.

the 2-4 band could have failed,it takes more holding force in 2nd vs 4th,or the sunshell has cracked,i have seen a few cases of no 2nd but has 4th and reverse if some splines are left in sunshell.Time to get the "beast"
