Default 4l60e...2-3 won't shift

I have a 4l60e in my 98 SS. Under WOT my 1-2 shift is fine but my 2-3 shift hits the rev limiter and won't shift til i let off the throttle some. Any other throttle postion it shifts fine, only under WOT. Is this something wrong inside tranny or could it be a tune issue. I have a shift kit and 3600 stall if that makes a difference.

You need a tune. Quicken the shift and/or lower the shift rpm.

I had a tune after cam and converter install. About 2 or 2 1/2 years ago. Can the tune go bad? I did more mods this winter and going to retune this spring, but if tranny is junk i want to swap that before tune.

In order for the tranny to shift at WOT it has to reach two conditions. First condition is engine rpm and second condition is vehicle speed. Like changing tire or gear size could throw th evss off. Correct me if Im wrong please!

Anytime you increase horsepower, it takes more oil (be it pressure & or volume to make the shift). The 3rd gear apply feed hole needs to be addressed, to help solve this. The Corvette servo, which you already have will work just fine. Make sure that the 2nd gear feed is .096", increase the third gear feed to .155", and adjust the band as per Trans-Go instructions (critical) if you have access to them. "Do not" add any spacers to the 2nd gear accumulator, as this only firms up part throttle 1-2 shifts. All of this is assuming that your transmission is still in good shape. If you still have 2-3 shift flares at WOT shifts, then you might have 3-4 clutch problems. If you have any questions on this, let me know?

Didn't you post at one time or another that the third feed hole can be taken up to .185"? I have the third feed hole at .155" and I have this issue also. I have also taken the 2-3 shift back 5 mph from stock at %100 tps. Tranny is fresh with a 9 plate pack. Also whats your opinion on the extra feed hole in the boost valve. (Sonnax) I've got the transgo HD-2 kit with the transgo boost valve. Would it in any way help to drill an extra feed hole in this one? Just looking for more info. Didn't mean to hijack the thread. I didn't want to start another one with the same topic.

I still use .187" in a lot of cases. If you are still having the 2-3 shift flare at WOT, and you are not going into the transmission, then you will need to shrink the "D" hole (band release) down to .093. If it is already that, then you will need to shrink it further. The 3-4 clutch clearance should be .025" - .035", if it is more than this, then the "D" hole (band release) will need to go down to .080" - .086". If the 3-4 clutch pack has the right clearance, then the hole sizes should be what the "modified" Shift kit instructions are.

I will check the plate to make sure of the sizes. You faxed me a copy of the modified sizes last year.
A=.155-.187
B=.096
C=.093
D=.093
E=.110
F=.093
R=.106-.120 no cup plugs
S=.093
The 3-4 clearance was at .035 when I did the build. The tranny has 400 miles on it since. All road miles to break in the new engine. Whats the best way to shrink the hole if need be. Soft aluminum or tack it and re-drill? If I need to go back into the unit, what do I need to look for? Thanks again for the response and advice. I am a novice builder who is hungry for knowledge. Its great that you share so freely.
