TC... if you had to choose...
I really need a stall for my car. I've been searching around the FS section and have found two that I think will work well w/ my setup on 3.42 gears. They are...
Vigilante 3200 stall converter, less then 3000 miles on it. = $300
OR
midwest 3400 stall torque converter with nitrous antiballooning plates for an LS1 (300$)
The words that throw me off on the midwest are the nitrous antiballooning plates. Does anyone have any info on those? What are those plates referring to? Can it be run w/o nitrous?
Any suggestions from anyone out there. Are those any good?

For that money I would rather a brand new Fuddle 3200. Only $75 more with their special offers and u get full replacement warranty.
The VIG is a good unit, don't get me wrong. But you sound hesitant about converters esp. with the nitrous comment so you don't want to be buying someone elses problems.
However, if it was out of those 2, I would go the VIG.

I haven't heard of fuddle until very recently. Have they been around for a while? They seem to be the cheapest. That makes me a little curious. How can they afford to sell them so cheap?

Go with the Vig, I have the 3200 and couldnt be happier. I lost about 1 mph over my old Midwest 3400, but my ET dropped 2-3 tenths. I have a full weight car, on motor I cut 1.58-1.61 60' with the Vig. I was doing 1.69-1.75 with the Midwest. The Vig loves the gas too.

Another vote for the Vig. I would try to talk to the seller to make sure there are no problems. If it checks out I don't think you can beat it for the price. I had a 3200 Vig in my 01 and it never gave me one problem and put up some great 60 ft and 1/4 mile times for the limited amount of mods I had. I am going to be ordering a Vig 3600 for my 02 in just a few days.
